A driver’s statement during and after Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Round of 8 playoff race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where Joey Logano won to advance to the championship round:

Joey Logano — First Finish: “We’re racing for the championship. Let’s go! Man, what a great car. All the Penske cars were fast. Everyone was really fast today. Oh, what you want to do.” All I have to do is be in Championship 4 when the season starts and race for the championship.I don’t see why we can’t win at this point.Things are going really well.Awesome Mustang. , this bad boy and man battled a lot of adversity over the last 50 or so laps, I thought I was going to win but I dropped out halfway through and got a tire and the race with Ross was It was fun, he did a good job blocking my air and I was just trying to be patient.

Ross Chastain — 2nd place finish: “That was it. There was an obvious difference in the tires, so we held him off and fully believed we could win the race with the tires we had. Joey kept the field going.” Finally, I hope I’ve been racing that guy for a really long time, but like we’ve been saying all year, this is the rise of the trackhouse and the other (Could I have done something different with Logano?) “Yeah, I don’t know. Only instincts have taken over and it’s all camera based. (Spotter) Brandon McReynolds from the top to my ear.” I’m just informing and guiding, but it’s me who makes the decisions and the actions. I’m sure you can get in. I thought there was one more corner to do that, and we were really tight.

Kyle Busch — 3rd Place: “We kept fighting in it and digging hard all day. Anyway, we had a really fast Camry. Not as good as the Penske guys. They really know this place. We worked on our stuff and made it better. For sure a top 5 car and a good 3rd place finish. After a lot of ups and downs we just saved what we could do there. Thanks to everyone. They’ve done it all day. We had a good pit stop, we had a loose wheel so we left a bit early but overall we recovered well, hopefully we can have a good result here and get back in the top 10 in points That’s how it is.”

Chase Briscoe — 4th Place: “I didn’t think I would ever be in contention at the beginning of the race. I honestly thought the motor was lying around. We were so slow in the corners. You did a really good job to improve the driving of the car like I wish I could have moved up and made it to the end when I was second and Justin[Haley]was leading. I think I was probably going to pass him in the next five laps, we had a very big gap compared to everyone else, no one had the tyres. We all had the same tires.

“In that last reboot, I couldn’t get the job done. When you give up the lead you’re kind of stuck you know?they came with tires so i guess i couldn’t hold them back but i feel better when i get the chance We have kept ourselves in the ball game and we still have a lot of work to do but we still have a chance. It’s everything.”

Denny Hamlin — 5th place finisher: “I don’t know if we had a winning car. Drove decently.Coming from 31 and certainly much better than yesterdayst 5th in the second stage, 5th in the race. It’s an okay day. We were mediocre all day, around 3rd to 7th, but luckily we got off to a really good start. It just needs to be a little faster and restarts better. It’s up to me, the engineer and Chris Gabehart to figure out how we can get off the track better (heading into qualifying). We tested Homestead. We have a baseline there and we’re not straying away from it. Same with Martinsville and tested there. You’ve now created some data points that lead into the next year. The car needs a little more potential to go faster. In qualifying we were all a little off. That’s what we have to work on. Right now I don’t think we’ll ever be in the heat, but we’re doing well. I sure love (Homestead). Unloading was great, but the field caught up[in testing]. At a track that loves to race, drivers can make a difference with so many options. Ultimately you have to do it and make no mistakes. “

Tyler Reddick — 6th place finisher‘We had a good run in the Chevrolet and led for a good part of the race early today. Those guys kept adjusting and the end of the race was pretty good.I’m really happy to be in the top 10 again. It was frustrating to restart here, but we got a good result. The Homestead-Miami Speedway is one of my favorite tracks and I can’t wait to go there next week.”

Eric Jones — 8th place finisher: “It was a good day in Las Vegas and we were on track to finish in the top 10. We had speed all weekend, but we didn’t qualify where we wanted to, but we adjusted all the races for Chevrolet. We were there last but needed a little bit more to get in the front and mix for the win.Next weekend we head to Homestead and We feel like we paid off in testing a few weeks ago and we’ll see what we can do.”

AJ Allmendinger — 9th place finisher: “Overall, I feel like it was a productive day for the No. 16 Chevrolet team. We fought a little tight most of the day. I was pretty happy with it.The car was pretty comfortable. It got a lot looser on one run, but other than that I was just battling a front issue. The speed was good and I went to Las Vegas Motor in March. We’ll be able to develop that further when we’re back on the speedway, it’s been really solid to get top 10 again and I’m proud of both cars. We will continue to work on it.”

Austin Dillon — 10th place finish: “Today was the start of the 333rd NASCAR Cup Series, so it’s really great to add another Top 10 finish to the season at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. But our Chevrolet got freer as it ran.Justin Alexander and the team successfully dealt with various balance issues throughout the day.Our decision to change tires at the end of the race was It was definitely the right thing to do, we restarted from 16th and finished 10th, if we had a better restart we could have finished 6th or 7th, car #22 wins and tires. He took the lead from me on the restart, so we were right there. All in all, another solid day.”

William Byron — 13th place finish: “I think it was the right decision[topitwith19lapstogo]. It’s just kind of a balance, I ran in the middle halfway through the race and as soon as the bottom and the top came in, it didn’t work either way. I couldn’t get it to the bottom all day I couldn’t get it to work In the end it’s like a hard day’s work So homestead We have to go work for it and try to improve it.”

Justin Haley — Finished 14th: “I got a caution and the tires were too tight to hold the lead. One of the calls from Trent Owens. We’ve had a tough summer, but with AJ working with us and spending a lot of simulation time at GM, we’re starting to move forward. It’s very difficult to build a team.It takes time.I’m so proud of everyone at Kaulig Racing. We got AJ in the top 10.A good run. We’ll keep building this for the offseason and next year. I hope you have a really good year.”

Chase Elliott — 21st place finish: “Did a really bad job all weekend. Don’t drive the car like it should be driven. Can’t give proper information to fix it. All-round poor effort on my behalf. Poor performance means bad.” You’ll get results, that’s how it works, you’ve got to go home and digest everything from today onwards, see you next week, for a chance that it matters I have to do a better job driving a car.”

Ryan Blaney — finished 28th: “I got loose, I hit the fence, that’s it. I’m glad we were quick today. It was a disappointing end, but I thought we had a decent test in Miami a few weeks ago. Hopefully the speed will improve. We didn’t have a fast car today and we made a driver mistake, but it’s bad to see what we can do with two more cars trying to make up for it.”

Ty Dillon — 33rd place finish: “I had a good day in Las Vegas and was looking to be strong, but in the second half of the race I hit the wall and broke something in the suspension which ended the day early.”

Christopher Bell — 34th place finish: “Only Bubba (Wallace) hit the wall and obviously got some retaliation from his side. We got the short end of the stick. The good thing is that it was better than when we won at Roval (Homestead or Martinsville). In) It feels better to win We got a really, really strong Camry – really all year round Let’s see if we can pull another bunny out of the hat. It’s a shame because our performance could be in contention for the championship. It’s just disappointing.”

Kyle Larson — 35th place finish: “I made an aggressive move, obviously into (Turn 3). I knew he was going to retaliate, he had reason to be angry, but his race wasn’t over until he retaliated, that’s the reality. turned to frustration and he retaliated, which I think is probably not the right thing to do given all that’s been going on here lately, head injuries, broken ligaments, maybe not everyone. But I have achieved I used to let my emotions take over I know he’s probably still upset I’m sure everything is going well he realized he made a mistake in the retaliation part and I’m sure he’ll think twice about it next time…. I saw him walking so I thought he’d do something. Like I said, he had every right to be upset, and I’d rather have him do that than rip our car apart in a dangerous way.

Bubba Wallace — 36th place finish: “When[Larson]was purposely pushed into the fence, he just happened to be there when he tried to force me up and the steering was gone. had a super-fast car – not a sprint, we were backing up there, and Larson wanted it to be a three-wide divebomb. Didn’t clear it won’t lift I know it’s my first time running in front but I won’t lift I wasn’t even in a place to lift and he never lifted and now We’re junk… Pissy bad move for his execution.(Can retaliation be allowed at this speed?) “Stop fishing” (What message did you want to convey to Larson after the incident?) “(Kyle Larson) knows. He knows what he did was wrong. He wanted to question what I was doing, but he cleared me.” (What was your reaction to Christopher Bell being involved in this?) “It’s a sport.”
