Buff draw at No.15 USC

Boulder – Chibana Coolman score a goal, Bella Glast He made nine saves in the weekend’s 1-1 draw against Colorado’s No. 15 Southern California on Sunday.

The Buffaloes (8-5-4, 2-4-2 Pac-12) posted a two-game losing streak and kept the team’s NCAA Tournament hopes alive with the result.

Coolman had the first score of the game and the 11th of the season to lead the Buffs to a 1–0 halftime lead. The Trojans came back even late in the second half, forcing a draw with an Aaliyah Farmer tap-in goal.

“Overall, we needed to deliver results today,” said the head coach. Danny Sanchez pointed out after the game. “Overall, I told the team that I was very proud of how hard they played and defended. It was like CU football. I stepped in and thought I gave a good performance.”

The Southern Cals (9-2-3, 5-1-2 Pac-12) still edged the Buffs 21-6, but Colorado limited the dangerous looks UCLA took advantage of Thursday. Farmer provided the majority of USC’s offense, scoring seven total shots in the game.

Glast made his first net start since September 4 against Omaha. Nine saves in sophomore year tied for career high Dani Hansen Most by a CU goaltender this season (in Michigan).

“I’ve said all year that I have a lot of faith in Bella,” Sanchez added. “When she got her chance, she did well. I thought she was very good today.”

How did this happen

Grust really got into action in the second half, making 6 saves in the final 45.

The Trojans were able to put just one Grust off a misplayed header that took the CU off a misplayed header for an easy put-in by Farmer in the 75th minute.

Buff nearly regained the goal on the next offensive possession when James shot from distance hovering over the crossbar.

Colorado leaves next week for its final road trip of the season. The Buffs will travel to No. 25 California on Thursday before taking on No. 7 Stanford on Sunday.
