This is all part of the university’s commitment to making the Miami experience affordable and accessible to all, said Moira Casey, Senior Regional Dean of Academic Affairs.
“Everyone who works for the Miami Regionals takes pride in our mission, which is to provide a college degree to community members who do not have the finances, educational background, or desire to access a traditional college experience. It’s about providing the opportunity to get it,” Casey said. “Access, affordability and student success are daily priorities for everyone here.”
Whether you’re a full-time college student, a working adult, or a teenager who hasn’t graduated from high school yet, here are some ways you can get a degree or professional certification without going into debt.
Middle and high school students: Earn free college credit
With College Credit Plus, students in grades 7-12 can earn up to 120 college credits for themselves or their families at no charge and graduate with a high school diploma and associate’s degree or on track. You can earn a bachelor’s degree in Miami Regionals E-Campus also offers hundreds of courses 100% online, so students can study from home or from high school.
Professionals: free upskilling or reskilling
TechCred grants in Ohio provide employers with funding for workers to pursue professional certifications in areas such as digital marketing, information technology, manufacturing and robotics. Many of these programs are available 100% online.
Targeted Adults: Start a New Career Without Paying a Penny
Ohio’s Individual Microcredential Assistance Program (IMAP) helps unemployed, partially employed, or low-income adults obtain free microcredentials. Miami Regionals E-Campus students gain the skills and professional credentials to launch careers in areas such as information technology, manufacturing, and robotics.
Full-time students: Leave the tuition fees to part-time jobs
Miami Regionals’ Work+ program partners with Ohio employers such as Worthington Industries, YMCA, Butler County Regional Transit Authority, and The Fischer Group. Work+ participants work 20-24 hours a week, and employers pay hourly wages plus full-time tuition and general expenses.
Everyone: Apply for Financial Aid or Scholarships
Many students are eligible for Pell grants that cover nearly the entire amount of their local tuition fees, and colleges have many scholarships available based on both need and merit. Even if students do not expect to qualify for these programs, they should still take time to complete the FAFSA each year.
Anyone: Take advantage of one of the lowest tuition fees in Ohio
The Miami Regionals offer one of the lowest tuition fees in Ohio (less than $300 per credit hour in 2022), and the university’s tuition promise locks its fees in for up to four years . That means students entering her 2023 academic year from 2022 can earn a bachelor’s degree for about $28,000, even after deducting scholarships, grants, and aid.
