Thousands of Supercross fans hit the beach on Saturday, October 15th. The Red Bull Straight Rhythm swooped down Huntington Beach with the ocean in the background and a makeshift dirt jump that sent the top pro rider high on his jump.
The event, held on the beach for the first time, was held in conjunction with the Moto Beach Classic, a super hooligan event launched in 2017.
Saturday’s moto-focused festival brought a new event unlike any other held on the coast.

Justin Barcia, one of 32 pro riders competing in the Red Bull competition, said hosting the event in Huntington State Beach makes sense given the growing Supercross scene and fan base in Southern California. I said it fits.
Still, Barcia, who started racing in 2009, called the seaside race “surreal.”
“You don’t get that in our sport,” he said. “Usually we are in the countryside, in the woods, or in stadiums.”
The Red Bull Straight Rhythm was launched at Pomona’s Auto Club Raceway in 2014. Use a 0.5 mile straight track. Here’s his one-on-one drag race on the dirt. Like most events, 2020 and he has been canceled for 2021.
Red Bull spent over a week building Saturday’s course. The course used his three parking lots on the beach and was trucked through dirt. Daredevil features him as one of the toilet buildings buried.
The Moto Beach Classic is a street bike race on an oval track.
Originally from the East Coast, Barcia recently moved to Orange to be closer to his sponsors and training area.
“The Supercross scene here is massive,” he said. “All the race teams are based here in Southern California. For us, it’s great for training.
He hoped Saturday’s race on the beach would bring new fans to the sport.
“This is something no one has done before and it’s very unique,” he said. “Red Bull is great at getting new people into the sport and showing them that dirt bikes are super cool.”
