CANADA, Oct. 15 – Prime Minister John Hogan presented the winners of the Teaching Excellence Awards at an awards ceremony at Government House. This award recognizes outstanding teachers, support staff, and administrators statewide.
“The Premier’s Awards for Excellence in Education celebrate the incredible achievements of 34 educational leaders over the past two years,” said Prime Minister Hogan. “You go above and beyond to put your students first every day. The Premier Awards bring out the best in her BC students and an opportunity to thank teachers, staff and educational leaders who represent the best of our state. is.”
This year’s 10 winners were chosen from 34 finalists from 113 nominations. Award categories include Community Engagement, District Leadership, Extracurricular Leadership, Indigenous Education, Outstanding New Teacher, Outstanding Support – School Community, Outstanding Support – Teaching Assistant, Outstanding Team Collaboration, and School Leadership. It includes leadership, social equity and diversity.
Jennifer Whiteside, Minister of Education and Child Care, said: “Through the Premier Awards, we will be able to share inspiring stories about the many professionals in K-12 schools who guide and make a difference in the lives of our students.” Whether you are a talented new teacher, an administrator leading a school, a caretaker or outreach worker providing additional support, or a teacher or staff member passionate about Indigenous education, social justice and equity, We are honored to bring the finalists together in person to celebrate their success and dedication to our students and school community.”
Winners will receive a $3,000 taxable individual scholarship for professional study and a $2,000 donation to the school community for professional study. The runner-up will receive her $1,000 taxable individual scholarship for professional learning and her $1,000 donation to the school community for professional learning.
