SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 24, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Roost.ai, the leader in ephemeral environments for release pipelines, today became a member of The Green Software Foundation (GSF) to support sustainable DevOps platform provider.

“Our members add an incredible amount of knowledge and expertise to our working groups and open source projects. We are thrilled to welcome Roost.ai to the Green Software Foundation. We look forward to contributing and supporting their commitment to reducing their carbon footprint through software,” said Asim Hussain, Chair of the Green Software Foundation.

Roost is proud to be a member of the GSF, along with founding members Accenture, GitHub, Microsoft and ThoughtWorks, Goldman Sachs, and nonprofits such as Leaders for Climate Action, Watt Time, and The Green Web Foundation.

“Roost takes a three-pronged approach to improving the effectiveness of the DevOps pipeline: what constitutes the environment, how long it needs to run, and when it needs to run. High customers not only benefit from the most cost-effective time, it is also the most carbon-efficient time to run their applications,” said Rishi Yadav, CEO and co-founder of Roost.ai. says.

Roost’s ephemeral environments are inherently carbon-aware and live only as long as needed

Roost.ai helps customers reduce the carbon footprint of their applications by measuring and reducing their Software Carbon Intensity (SCI). The SCI technical specification explains how to calculate the carbon footprint of software systems. The SCI specification was developed by the Green Software Foundation (GSF).

“The Roost platform creates and runs ephemeral environments in the most carbon-conscious way. We create it and dispose of it when we don’t need it anymore, our customers don’t have to. We worry about managing the environment and our carbon footprint on these things,” said Sudhir, CTO and co-founder of Roost.ai. says Jangir.
