Separation of NFC Candidates and Imposters After Week 7

Who’s clearly better at NFC than the Philadelphia Eagles? After seven weeks into the season, the undefeated Eagles sit distinctly alone at the top of the NFC hierarchy.

But who comes next? Let’s take a look at the teams that were active in Week 7 and see if they should be considered competitors or imposters. (5-1 Minnesota Vikings and 3-3 los angeles rams I joined the Eagles for goodbye week).

dallas cowboys (5-2)

why they are competitors: This is a talented roster with above average players in key positions. Dak Prescott returned to the lineup on Sunday. He didn’t light it up against the Detroit Lions, but we got a glimpse of what Dak could do when he got back in the flow of things. To the Cowboys has a top 5 offensive line and probably the best pass rush in the NFL along with Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence. The Cowboys’ pass defense is good and not elite, but Trevon Diggs can be a lockdown corner at times. , always giving the team a chance to win every weekend.

why they pretend: The Cowboys, like most teams in the league, seem to be a system team. That system is successful, I don’t doubt it. So far, though, they’ve had a tangible way to win. Defending, rushing the ball and limiting the quarterback’s chances of getting “messed up”. With Prescott back in the lineup, you don’t have to worry too much about “systems.” If the defense collapses, they can score enough points to win those games.

new york giants (6-1)

why they are competitors: coaching. That’s the only way to explain the Giants’ success this season. Their offense is designed around quarterback Daniel Jones, who wants to avoid being put in a bad situation, and has a bunch of wide receivers who likely shouldn’t be starters. They’re throwing a bad internal offensive line. Their defense entered the weekend ranked 30th on the DVOA, but the unit doesn’t allow a ton of points. But every week, when you check the score bug or TV late in the 4th quarter, the Giants are either close at hand or have a slim lead. The only explanation is that they are a well-coached and disciplined soccer team who never make mistakes or self-harm. Kudos to the staff. Last he won 3 more in 10 weeks and they are a wild card team.

why they pretend: in the best possible way — what are they doing well? In what part of their play do they say ‘the Giants are above average at this…’? Jones scoot as part of the offense It may be a rush game that uses abilities. They aren’t strong offensively on his line, especially on the inside, and are making decent tackles now that Evan Neil is injured. They don’t stop running, they don’t stop passes, they don’t rush passersby. They limit the points that feel like a house of cards. I rated it. Most other teams that come close to the Giants’ level of performance or efficiency are the bottom denizens in the NFL. Again, math adds up to playoff berths, but they’re an odd team.

Giants defense makes winning stop on final play against Jaguars

The New York Giants defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars in an exciting 23-17 game. On the final play, the Giants’ defense stopped Christian Kirk on the goal line to seal the game.

Seattle Seahawks (4-3)

why they are competitors: Offense is fun and scores a lot of points. Seattle came out this weekend as his fourth most effective offense in the league before advancing to Los Angeles to score the Chargers by 37 points. Quarterback Genno Smith is having a career comeback, and the Seahawks’ rushing offense is excellent. Rookie Kenneth Walker, now the primary back, rushed for 168 yards Sunday against the Chargers. He has 44 carries and 265 yards in his last two games.Seahawks attack looks real, stay here

why they pretend: They are playing on a flexible schedule and in one game against a quality opponent (49ers) they were smoked. You can only play against teams in front of you, and perhaps the Chargers are considered quality opponents, but Seattle has faced bad teams such as the Broncos, Falcons, Lions, Saints, and Cardinals. , their defense is struggling, but they have been playing better the last two weekends. Their soft schedule may not be much of an issue. 500 until the end of the season. But they got his 49ers again, and the Rams got his twice, Chiefs, Jets, and Buccaneers. If the offense slows down a bit, the defense will probably allow a ton of points. we will see

Seahawks’ Kenneth Walker III overwhelmed the Chargers’ defense to take a big win.

Seahawks' Kenneth Walker III overwhelmed the Chargers' defense to take a big win.

Kenneth Walker III rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns in the Seattle Seahawks’ comfortable 37-23 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.

Green Bay Packers (3-4)

why they are competitors: In theory, the Packers offense could stop being held hostage by the quarterback and return to a functioning unit. They aren’t running the ball enough and Aaron Rodgers isn’t making the necessary adjustments to the game to match his core of receiving. Excuses about lack of weapons sound hollow when elite unarmed teams and teams playing backup quarterbacks can move the ball. aren’t using him enough. In Sunday’s loss to the Commanders, Jones made just eight rushing attempts and had 17 total touches.

why they pretend: Possibly bad business counting the Packers and Rogers, but the offense has struggled to score points this season. Rogers has nothing to do with any recipient other than Allen Lazard. Because of this, the Packers don’t try to push the ball downfield. It’s getting harder and harder for them to produce explosive pass plays. This is much needed when the offense is running properly. There appears to be a behind-the-scenes feud between Rodgers and head coach/playcaller Matt Raffler, and finally, the offensive’s line continues to be plagued with injuries, helping Rodgers stay comfortable in the pocket. Is not …

Commanders beat Packers 23-21 in wild final play

Commanders beat Packers 23-21 in wild final play

The Washington Commanders defeated the Green Bay Packers 23-21 after ending regulation on this WILD final play.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-4)

why they are competitors: There’s Tom Brady. This is easy. Yes, the Bucks have not played well on offense. But how many times have we seen Brady counted out before leading his team to victory? It’s happened throughout his career, helping the Bucks play in a terrible division. might dominate the division with his seven wins, but suddenly he’s hosting a playoff game. but…

why they pretend: Brady doesn’t have Bill Belichick to help pull this team out of a slump. They are a team that now seems lifeless. dropped the pass. Inadequate protection. Zero rush offense. Awful and often unimaginative play calls. Brady doesn’t appear to be too involved in the preparation process, taking one day off from practice a week. Older players take regular breaks. But Brady has built his life around an intense schedule to optimize his on-field performance. This season he’s doing something different. I’m not surprised that he hasn’t done well in attack this season.

San Francisco 49ers (3-4)

why they are competitors: healthy. The Niners are devastated and slowly getting healthier. When they’re all back, the Niners has the best defense in the NFL, frightening opposing quarterbacks and pass protection units with his rush of hard passes. When the secondary is healthy, it works in conjunction with the pass rush to stop the opponent’s attack. The return of Trent Williams to the left tackle spot from injury has greatly improved the Niners’ offensive line. This roster is best when you are healthy.

why they pretend: Jimmy Garoppolo. he’s not that good On his best days, he’s average. If the first read isn’t open, he’s in trouble. He doesn’t seem to care about answering the pressure. The 49ers traded Christian McCaffrey for his running back this week to help run his game. A solid run game takes the pressure off the quarterback. This opened up a Play Action Pass game for the Niners, with Jimmy G.
