Hotel Kinsley is a campus of four 19th-century boutique buildings with a total of 42 rooms, along with two uptown restaurants and bars.
It was the first “destination hotel” to open in Uptown in 2019, according to a press release.
The Chamber of Commerce said Breichmann “has been an investor in Ulster County since 1990 and has lived in the county for 25 years.”
“As a developer, Charles Blaichman had the acumen to buy properties that could ultimately be repurposed,” the Chamber said. “He is fully involved in every project and oversees the tiniest details. His team tests and re-tests the results of every decision, whether it be restaurant design, paint colors, menus, etc. I spend endless hours on it.”
The Hotel Kinsley is a 10-room Georgian stone building dating from 1770 at 301 Wall Street. His 14-room 41 Pearl Street opened in January 2021. 270 John Street was supposed to open in the summer. And then 24 John St. His two restaurants include Kinsley at 301 Wall Street and Lola’s at 243 Fair Street.
Blaichman employs between 50 and 75 full-time and part-time employees, depending on the season.
According to the Chamber of Commerce, COVID-19 has created serious challenges for Breichmann and his company, forcing his restaurants and hotels to close after just five months of opening. His restaurant has transitioned to takeout and then outdoor dining, with limited capacity, he said.
