Catch the crosstown football stream at Lewis & Clark. Starting at 7 p.m. on Oct. 21, with propane heaters and beer in hand, his No. 1 and his No. 2 teams from Western AA will battle it out. Inside is a song by Squirrel Gravy.

Saturday, October 22, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. blueberry junction The Bozeman, Montana-based rock and roll band will blow your mind with a mix of chart-topping covers and well-crafted originals.

Helena Symphony Presents Mozart’s Requiem

The Helena Symphony will present a reflective Mozart Requiem on Saturday, October 22 at 7:30 PM at the Helena Civic Center.

Mozart’s unfinished but soul-stirring Requiem combines with opera master Richard Wagner’s portrayal of desire, love and death to create a heart-wrenching opening and ending to Tristan und Isolde.

Masterworks II will see the 78 members of the Helena Symphony Orchestra perform for the first time this season, as well as some outstanding soloists. Boston Symphony Orchestra regular soprano Meredith Hansen makes her debut with the Helena Symphony. Tenor Jesse Durden has also made his debut with the Helena Symphony Orchestra and has performed with opera companies such as Boston He Lyric His Opera and Santa Fe His Opera.

Baritone John Green returns to perform with the Helena Symphony Orchestra following his recent appearance in Season 67. Green has been seen at Carnegie Hall and many other stages and performs regularly around the world.

Discounted season tickets are available for the remaining Masterworks Series concerts presented by AARP Montana. In addition to deep discounts on season tickets, subscribers also receive a Bring A Friend Pass, The Art of Listening newsletter, and other perks.

Mandolin Master of The Myrna Loy

Mandolin virtuoso John Reishman will return to The Myrna Roy with his talented bluegrass band The Javers on Thursday, October 27th at 7:30pm.

Mandolin masters John Reishman and Javers will bring legendary bluegrass to Myrna Roy on Thursday, October 27th.

Often called the “master of the mandolin,” Reishman is “legendary, whether playing bluegrass, swing, Brazilian choirs, or Puerto Rican jibarro music,” for his “exquisite technique, tone, and timing.” It has been praised by critics. He is also known for playing jazz.

Band members include California-based guitarist Patrick Sauber. BC-based vocalist and songwriter Trisha Gagnon. Nick Hornbuckle, BC-based “spine-chilling” banjo player and composer. and Washington-based fiddler and songwriter Greg Spatz – all of whom have earned individual accolades and awards in their solo music careers.

Starz on Stage announces ‘pop-up’ concert

Starz on Stage Productions will host two “pop-up” concerts. After officially closing down the cabaret in April 2022, Starz on Stage will allow music lovers to make his 28th October and 10th November performances at 15 N. Jackson’s Shrine Temple. Announced the opportunity to enjoy two shows.

Hear Dennis Stroughmatt (and friends) serenade the audience with music ranging from creole to country. On October 28 at 7pm, the Shrine Temple will host the Texas Records artist, 2015 Old His Time His Fiddler Hall of Fame Champion and regular his performer on the RFD TV channel. A native of Illinois, Strawmatt grew up on the music of Bob Wills, Benny Goodman, and Ray Price.

“Kiss me Once: Stories from the Homefront” is a touching and emotional tale of brave men and women of the “Greatest Generation” influenced by World War II. Soloist Kathy Kafer brings her loveable, heartbreaking stories to her listeners with her songs like “Kiss Me Once,” “The White Cliffs of Dover,” and “I’ll Be Seeing You.” increase.

The other half of the duo, David Shenton, is the founder and owner of Showstopper Entertainment and has appeared in several nationally touring groups.

Musikten Montana All Souls Concert

Musikanten continues its 19th performance in Helena with an annual All Souls concert November 1-2, performing nightly at 7:30.

This year’s memorial concert program will light a candle for parishioners, family and friends who died last year and will consist of early Bach cantatas and Heinrich Bieber’s 17th-century Requiem in F minor. Both productions feature Musikkanten guest artists, including five vocal soloists, two baroque violins, cello, bassoon and organ continuo.

The concert opens with Bach’s Cantata 150 “Nach dir, Herr, verlanget mich” (Lord, my soul longs for you). Cantor Michael Harrison then recites the names of those who lit the candles, followed by a short silence for meditation and prayer.

The baroque violinists are Elisa Wicks and Brune McCurry, and the basso continuo players are Adaiha Jay McAdam-Somer on cello and Wendy Yuen on organ. Vocal guest artists are Helena favorites Amanda Balestrieri and Evanne Brown (soprano), Anne Kania (contralto), Thomas Gregg (tenor) and Bob Robinson (bass).

Performances will take place at 7:30 pm on both nights, with Tuesday’s concert at St. Peter’s Episcopal Cathedral at 511 N. Park and Wednesday’s concert at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church at 3580 N. Benton Ave.

The suggested doorstep donation is $25. To light a candle and include your name in the memorial program, please email your name to musikantenmt@aol.com by October 27th.

Class at the Holter Museum

Halloween ghosts and jack-o’-lanterns: Candle Carving Sunday, October 23, 2-5pm Create your own eerie candle with Joy Kelso. Joy guides participants as they dip a candle wick to create a layered candle, from which they carve ghostly features and a jack-o’-lantern smile. Participants walk away with each candle and knowledge to continue carving.

Open Studio Days at The Bray

The Bray community will roam the hallways of Shayner Studios on Friday, October 21 from 5-7pm and Saturday, October 21 from 5-7pm to connect with Bray’s resident artists, Experience finished artwork and see work in progress. 22:00 noon to 2:00 pm

Visitors can also walk around the grounds with a self-guided tour map. You can also stop by the sales gallery to purchase the finished artwork.

It is open to the public for free.

Basin Gallery exhibition ends

Basin’s Refugee Gallery closes the exhibition Proximal Works in Situ. Come see the artist on Saturday, October 22nd from noon to 2pm. His two artists, Stephen Hunt and John Knight, talk about the installation.

The 1+1=1 Gallery presents the art collection of the late Gloria Hermanson, an avid supporter of Montana art and artists.

The Gloria Hermanson collection is part of the work on display at the 1+1=1 gallery. A public reception will be held for her on October 22nd from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Hermanson’s collection included works by several artists who went on to prominent careers both in Montana and nationally, including David Shainer, Kurt Weiser, Francis Senska, Josh Dewees, and Russell Chatham. The complete catalog includes works in various artistic fields, including ceramic works (functional and sculptural), textile arts, paintings and prints.

The Gloria Hermanson Art Collection will open at a private reception on Thursday, October 20th at 6:00pm and then open to the public on Saturday, October 22nd from 11:00am to 3:00pm.

The exhibit has a virtual component and is available online at 1plus1is1.com/2022-gh-collection. Website visitors can learn more about Gloria and browse a gallery of all exhibits.

Hermanson’s collection will be on display at the 1+1=1 gallery until Friday, November 11th, and available online until February 2023. The gallery is located at 434 N. Last Chance Gulch.

Exploration Works Nightmare Affair

ExplorationWorks’ 15th Annual Nightmare Affair Gala will be held on October 29th from 6-9pm at the Great Northern Best Western Hotel. Music and dancing continues until 11pm.

This adults-only Halloween party is a night of fun that supports science education. The night includes a silent live auction, music from Ten Years Gone, a delicious dinner buffet, science-themed cocktails, and a costume contest.

Those unable to attend the event in person can still participate in The Nightmare Affair through an online auction. An online auction will be held on his October 24-29, with various packages up for sale.

Individual tickets are priced at $100 per person, or $900 for a table of 10. Tickets for the event are limited and will end on October 21st. For information and to purchase tickets online, visit www.explorationworks.org/nightmare-. event, event.

Democracy in Burma is the topic of discussion

A presentation on “Burma’s Struggle for Democracy” will be held on Thursday, October 20 at 6:30 pm at the Lewis & Clark Library.

Better Burma’s founders, Joah McGee and Jingyi Zhan, are humanitarian aid organizations working for those affected by last year’s military occupation of Myanmar.
