“Saturday Night Live” kicked off this week’s episode with one of the most notable moments in recent news: the House Select Committee to Investigate the Jan. 6, 2021 Riots.

Kenan Thompson, who played Congressman Benny Thompson, kicked off the NBC variety show by introducing the crowd to the committee’s ninth and final hearing.

Benny Thompson of Thompson said, “January 6th was one of the most dramatic and important moments in our nation’s history, so we assembled a team of monotonous geeks to create a PowerPoint to fight back.” Did.

He went on to say that although the commission has been investigating the attack for more than a year, this session will be “a little different.”

Benny Thompson of Thompson said, “We’ll put together our findings, make history-making votes, and only then can we have a little feast.”

After this introduction, representative Liz Cheney, played by Heidi Gardner, spoke up.

“Over the past few months, this bipartisan commission has presented our case to all Americans,” she said. “Whether you’re a Republican you don’t see or a Democrat nodding your head off, one person is responsible for this rebellion: Donald Trump. And the one who will suffer the consequences is he. It’s a person. It’s me.”

Gardner’s Chaney said the audience may be wondering what makes her so tough, she asked the audience, “Who’s your dad? Dick Cheney?”

“Well, I would say Dick Cheney has a lot of energy,” she said.

The committee then examined some evidence, including a video of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, played by Chloe Feynman, and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, played by Sarah Sherman, in a bunker.

“Hi, Doordash? It’s Chuck Schumer,” said Sherman Schumer on the phone from the bunker. “Yes, I have not yet received your lunch order, and although I have changed the drop-off point due to the unfortunate treason, it should have arrived by now.”

The committee then went to evidence that then-President Donald Trump had asked many people whether he had lost the election, including a White House janitor who said he had in fact lost the election.

Trump even asked the dog who “shook the dead dog from side to side.”

Congressman Adam Kinzinger, played by Andrew Dismukes, said, “Donald was desperate to cling to power.” “True heroes like Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer were actually running this country.

Shortly thereafter, the scene cuts to Sherman Schumer and Feynman Pelosi talking to then-Vice President Mike Pence.

Feynman’s Pelosi said, “If Trump were here now, I would punch him in the face.”

Thompson’s Benny Thompson then asked Gardner’s Cheney for final thoughts.

“The fact is that Trump planned to declare victory regardless of the outcome,” she said. “Watch this video of the president the day before the election.”

The video shown was of James Austin Johnson saying “voting doesn’t matter” as Trump on the phone.

“What’s a vote?” he said.

The committee then voted to subpoena Trump. They all voted yes and thought he would actually show up.

“Okay, we already know this is a perfect zero,” said Thompson’s Benny Thompson. “I would like to thank my colleagues who spent the summer holidays and, in some cases, made careers on this committee.”

He then added, “It was fun country while it lasted.”

It then led to the show’s signature phrase, “Live… from New York!” It’s Saturday night! ”
