Will the trend of under-caching at Cardinals games continue? Plus Thursday's other best bets

Have you ever felt like you were drowning in a sport? Do you want someone to help you or are you okay with it? I am the latter. The last few days have been insane. With the baseball postseason in full swing and European football cramming as many games as it can before the World Cup, sports were featured every day from early afternoon to early morning this week.

Tuesday was my first real day off in months, and I spent all day on the couch watching sports. I bet everything. If it was a sport and it was on TV, I was watching it and the results were at stake.

I hate to say it was the best day of my life, but it was definitely in the top 20. It was probably even in the top 10. tonight. But before we get to those, let’s catch up on all the latest happenings and what’s not.

Let’s have a day.

🔥 Hot Ticket

Saints at Cardinals, 8:15 p.m. | TV: Amazon

Latest odds:

less than 43.5

  • main trends: Under wins five straight Cardinals games
  • Pick: Less than 43.5 (-110)

We’re sorry, but it’s possible that Thursday night games will be played again. Al Her Michaels may decide to retire mid-game after having to deal with tedious snoozers for 100 straight weeks. Arizona reinstated DeAndre Hopkins from suspension. Unfortunately, injury reports for both teams in the short week have not been encouraging.

The Cardinals likely won’t have James Connor and Darrell Williams. Marquise Brown has been sidelined for at least a month with a foot injury, and the Cards will lose starting left guard and center. New Orleans isn’t that good. There are some questions about whether Andy Dalton or Jameis Winston will be QB tonight. Whoever it is, Michael Thomas, Jarvis Landry, or tight end Adam Trautman will not be available.

So the Saints will likely resort to a run game, and the Cardinals will. I don’t know exactly what the Cardinals will do.It’s probably not pretty.Even Kliff Kingsbury is publicly considering the option of forgoing a play call, which is rarely a good sign.I We have more confidence in both defenses tonight. So should you.

SportsLine said of the game: If you want to bet on spreads, the projection model leans to one side.

⚾ MLB

Yankees vs. Astros, 7:37 PM | TV: TBS

Latest odds:

under 7 years old

Pick: Under 7 (-110) — Much has been said about Houston’s dominance in this rivalry, as the Astros overtook the Yankees in October and won five straight games in Houston. People don’t pay much attention to how reliable Underer has been since they met. In the last seven meetings he has gone 5-2. Based on my numbers, he’s likely to be 6-2 after tonight.

Aaron Boone sidestepped some of his better relievers last night in a move that infuriated many Yankees fans I know, but it could pay off tonight. I was exhausted and needed a rest. With Luis Severino out tonight, he likely needs a better bullpen arm as he hasn’t pitched deeply into a game since returning in September. And he’s a great pitcher against the Yankees because he keeps the ball on the ground and in the park. The Yankees aren’t as effective when they force you to move from station to station.

main trends: Under are 5-2 in their last seven games.

🏈 college football

Georgia Tech, Virginia, 7:30 p.m. | TV: ESPN

Latest odds:

Virginia Cavaliers +3.5

The Pick: Virginia +3 (-110) — We’ve taken a firm stance on letting Virginia fade this season, but tonight we’re forced to reconsider. There are questions about whether his QB at Georgia Tech will play after Jeff Sims’ rampage last weekend. If he doesn’t, it just means he’s getting more value in Virginia. In any case, the Cavaliers are struggling offensively, but they’re good at running the ball and making it. The rate ranks him 38th nationally. The Georgia Tech defense ranks 76th in the nation for run-to-run success rate.

Plus, like Virginia, Yellowjacket is better on the ground. For all of Virginia’s offensive shortcomings, they’re pretty solid defensively and much better against runs. Cannot be used. Virginia can abuse tech. In a game that requires close combat, small differences matter.

main trends: Georgia Tech is 7-19 ATS in the last 26 home games.

🔒 Today’s sports line picks: Tonight is the Battle of Los Angeles between the Lakers and Clippers. The projection model leans heavily to one side of the whole that needs to be checked out.
